Who we are

people CfA - Business skills @ work is a government recognised apprenticeship issuing authority responsible for business skills. This includes skills in Management and Leadership, Business & Administration, Governance, Languages & Intercultural working, Customer Service & Contact Centre, Marketing & Sales, Human Resources & Recruitment, Industrial Relations and Enterprise & Business Support.

In 2010, CfA formed a partnership with several leading UK organisations who are also involved in delivering, developing and overseeing business skills in the UK. Details of our partner organisations can be found on our partners page.

The CfA was formerly known as the Council for Administration.

What we do

The CfA has a remit to define the role of individuals whose role involves business skills, and identify the key skills that are essential for success in today’s business environment. In order to bridge the gap between what businesses need and what the labour market has to provide.

We do this through designing and promoting standards and qualifications as well as delivering relevant business skills, including vocational qualifications such as NVQs and SVQs.

We also oversee the development of Apprenticeship Frameworks, which are taken by approximately 23% of all Apprentices across the UK, and work with awarding organisations to develop qualifications based on the skills and competences that employers need.

The CfA also provides consultancy services to organisations and the public sector who are involved in developing business skills, qualifications, competence frameworks or training strategies.
