EDI Business & Administration update

Specialist Units

EDI is currently looking to include some of the recently developed Specialist Standards within their existing NVQs in Business and Administration.

Administration qualifications

EDI has a number of Administration qualifications, which are due to expire in July 2007 and EDI are currently exploring the possibility of developing these into a suite of Secretarial/Business Skills qualifications. EDI are keen to hear any comments from employers or centres in order to develop a qualification which clearly addresses the needs of both employers and candidates.

If you are interested in finding out more about either of these developments please email: sarahmarshall@ediplc.com.

2007 Apprenticeship Awards - Could you be a winner?

Do you employ an apprentice who’s made a real difference to your business? Or are you an employer who’s shown a massive commitment to training your workforce through Apprenticeships?

If the answer is “yes”, you could be a winner, and have your achievements recognised by entering the Learning and Skills Council’s 2007 Apprenticeship Awards.

Last year, Lucy Wilkins, a Business & Administration Apprentice with Somerset County Training, won the prestigious award of Personal Achievement of the Year. Lucy commented on her achievement:

“ I was shocked when my name was announced and it is all a bit of a blur; but I remember being very happy and proud of myself knowing that what I have achieved is possible, regardless of whatever else happens in life and I hope that others can use my example to know that they can achieve whatever they put their minds to.”

The deadline for entries is Friday 23rd February 2007 and there are lots of opportunities to win. To learn more about the awards and how to apply, please click here to visit the Apprenticeship Awards website.

These Awards are a terrific opportunity to show that Apprenticeships are having a crucial impact on young people, employers and the economy.

Retail & Public Services Diploma development

The CfA is about to begin work on the development of the new Retail Diploma and the Public Services Diploma.

The CfA will be working with several SSCs (Sector Skills Councils), including Skillsmart Retail and Government Skills.

The CfA is currently appealing to Retail employers who would like to work on the development of the Retail Diploma, to ensure that the necessary administration knowledge and skills are developed for the Retail sector.

To register your interest please contact Richard Thompson.

Employer Relations Update

This month, Rob has been talking to employers about the new CfA Advisor Network.

Advisors are professionals who work as administrators and they will be recruited from across the UK. Appointed advisors will work with CfA to identify existing and future skills needs in Business & Administration.

“This is a very exiting initiative” said Rob, “because it will ensure that those working in the Profession will have their views heard directly and will be able to directly influence standards and qualifications.  It will also give the Advisors opportunity to network and learn from each other”.

Employers can learn more about the CfA Advisor Network by contacting Rob Jefferson on 020 7091 9636.
