CFA hosted a successful master class on how to assess knowledge and understanding in the new QCF qualifications this week.
The full-day event covered language used in QCF units and, crucially, what they mean for assessment.
Assessors, QCF unit teachers and qualification assurance managers learnt how to apply different approaches to assessing knowledge and understanding and whether it is combined in practice.
Daniela Fairweather, from Lincoln College, said: “It was very good. The trainer had so much knowledge and was able to answer our questions and quickly adapt answers according to our needs, which I find very useful.”
Sarah Wadling, from Wandsworth Council, said: “The session was really informative. I have come away learning things that I did not know when I first came here.
“I’ve learnt how to assess knowledge and to better use criteria. It has opened my eyes to other things – like spending more time with my team.”
The event was run by Sally Garbett, a very experienced and lively trainer in assessment and quality assurance. The class was the first of its kind at CFA.
Held in the brand new Andrew Young Suite, delegates were able to enjoy the training and conference facilities at Instructus.
Attendees will receive a CFA certificate in recognition of their CPD activity.
