What are Foundation Degrees?

Foundation Degrees are a type of degree that are developed and delivered by colleges, universities and employers. They combine academic study and work-based learning, which together gives graduates of Foundation Degrees the skills and knowledge needed for success in business.

Flexible study options are available and include full-time, part-time and distance learning. A typical full-time Foundation Degree takes two years. Students that have completed a Foundation Degree can usually progress onto to final year of a related Honours Degree.

Foundation Degree Framework

The CfA, in partnership with employers has developed a Business & Administration Foundation Degree framework. This framework specifies employer's essential and desirable areas for inclusion in Business & Administration related Foundation Degree programmes. This framework will act as a guide for universities, colleges and employers involved in the design and development of Foundation Degree programmes.
