Specialist Standards Projects

Within the UK workforce 1.7 million business administrators need specialist skills, knowledge and competencies to work in their sector, while a further 10 million people need Business & Administration skills to carry out their professional, managerial or technical jobs competently.

It is predicted that the occupational area of Business & Administration will come under increasing pressure over the next decade for two primary reasons:

The aging profile of business administrators in some sectors resulting in an expected additional replacement figure of 1.7 million people over ten years,

The trend for a further 1.3 million service sector jobs becoming available in the UK market between now and 2012.

In addition to this, UK employers are currently reporting a difficulty in recruiting Business & Administration staff, as well as many skills gaps. It is therefore important for the CfA to work with stakeholders and employers to develop standards for both new and existing staff to meet these needs of employers.
