Apprenticeships

You will find information below detailing recent research into and current CfA projects on Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Framework Requirements from August 2010 - Introducing the QCF

The CfA, along with our awarding organisation partners, are working on the development of new Business & Administration qualifications for the QCF.

New qualifications being developed by the CfA and awarding organisations include a QCF version of the NVQ and a QCF version of the knowledge-based element of the Apprenticeship Framework (the Technical Certificate).

These new qualifications will be based on our newly revised National Occupational Standards, ensuring they reflect the most up-to-date practices within Business & Administration. The revised National Occupational Standards are expected to be launched in Spring 2010, as will the contents of the new NVQ and new knowledge-based qualification. The qualifications are expected to be offered to learners from the 1st August 2010.

The Apprenticeship framework from 1st August 2010 will reflect the changes in the qualifications, but will still be made up of the revised NVQ, the revised knowledge-based qualification and the choice of either functional skills or key skills.

Following recent guidance from QCDA, from September 2010 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics will replace the equivalent key skills within all frameworks. This means key skills will no longer be a part of the Business & Administration framework from September 2010. Further details of this can be found by clicking here.

The CfA are planning a review of the Apprenticeship framework to ensure it is in-line with the SASE and SASW requirements later in the year, including a review of the functional skills requirements.

Further details of all developments will be provided through the CfA's e-Briefing service as soon as it is available.
