About the sector
Management & Leadership has been identified as a strategic area of importance across the UK economy in both the private and public sectors. The development of management skills across the UK has been at the forefront of Government policy over the past decade, where Management & Leadership skills are crucial to ensuring that organisations operate effectively and efficiently - often making the difference between a successful organisation and an unsuccessful one.
Approximately 4.5 million employees within the UK operate within management roles or require management skills, with a strong take-up of both academic and vocational management qualifications helping to develop the UK managers’ skills pool.
Management skills cross a number of qualification levels, from team leading based roles to strategic management and chief executive roles. The CfA works with qualifications providers to ensure that a range of qualifications exists to meet these needs, and that the qualifications reflect industry need as accurately as possible.
