Widening your child's prospects for the future

Your child's safety is of paramount importance to all partners involved in the Young Apprenticeship programme. Strict procedures are in place to ensure that they are safeguarded and protected at all times, no matter which learning environment they are in.

The Learning and Skills Council has developed a comprehensive guide to Health, Safety and child protection to be used across the Young Apprenticeship programme. This guide can be found in the 'downloads' section. Here, you will also find the Child Protection Guidance document, developed by the CfA in collaboration with the NSPCC.

Your child's safety
is paramount

Health and Safety Agreements

Health and Safety issues will be identified in an official agreement within the partnership. Your input and co-operation in this agreement are key to its success. If your child is already involved in the Young Apprenticeship programme, you should ensure that you have access to the agreement as and when you wish

Risk Assessment

Risk assessments will take place across all learning environments. This will include school, training provider and employer premises. As the YA's are children, by law the information from the assessment should be given to the parent / guardian prior to commencing.

Overall responsibility

Your child's school will remain responsible for your child at all times. If you have any concerns about health, safety or child protection, contact the Young Apprenticeship co-ordinator at your child's school. The safety of your child is a primary concern for all partners within the partnership and the 'duty of care' will also be considered a shared responsibility across the partnership.
