The Young Apprenticeship programme runs for a 2 year period alongside your child's GCSE studies.
On average, the programme is delivered in 2 days per week, over years 10 and 11. It includes a Level 2 Business & Administration related qualification and your child will also spend 50 days in an extended work placement, within an employer environment. The CfA recommends your child take a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business & Administration, a Level 1 NVQ in Business & Administration and a GCSE in Applied Business or equivalent Business & Administration qualifications.
A taste of
'real' work
The remaining 3 days of the school week will be dedicated to mandatory core GCSE studies; English, Mathematics, ICT (Information, Communications and Technology) and Science (Double award). By maintaining these core subjects, your child can keep their options open and should they choose to pursue an academic direction upon completion of their Young Apprenticeship, they will have all the necessary qualifications to do so.
