Widening your child's prospects for the future

A Young Apprenticeship is a great way of getting a taste of 'real work' whilst still studying towards your core subjects at school. It's an opportunity to find out what it's really like in the workplace before deciding on your future direction.

The Young Apprenticeship programme was launched in September 2004, with 1000 pupils embarking on Young Apprenticeships. The programme has continued to expand over the last few years and from September 2009, there will be more than 10,000 young people embarking on a Young Apprenticeship across 14 sectors.

Experience the world of work

The Young Apprenticeship in Business & Administration is one of the most popular amongst young Apprentices with a high percentage opting for apprenticeship in this sector. The programme gives pupils a realistic insight into what life is really like in today's business environment. By carrying out administrative tasks and developing core business skills you will understand the nature and demands of full-time work, which will help you to make more informed decisions when you reach 16. You will work towards a work-based or work-related qualification at level 2 that will develop skills and knowledge, which will support you in the workplace.
